LeBron “Bronny” James Jr. is celebrating his 16th birthday today (October 6). The son of NBA icon LeBron James, Bronny is a skilled and talented basketball player like his father and he has no shortage of potential to make a name for himself in the future. 1. He is the oldest of LeBron James Sr.’s three children

Bronny was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on Oct. 6, 2004, to LeBron James Sr. and his high school sweetheart Savannah James. His two siblings are 13-year-old Bryce and 5-year-old Zhuri James.

2. His godfather is Oklahoma City Thunder point guard Chris Paul

Bronny’s godfather is none other than NBA star Chris Paul, who is a longtime friend and former Olympic teammate of LeBron James.

3. He is pretty tall for his age

Bronny’s height and weight are listed at 6’4″ and 176 pounds. Though Bronny is not as tall as his 6’9″, 250-pound physical beast of a dad, his size is good for his age and position. In any case, Bronny is still growing, so he might end up reaching between 6’6″ and 6’8″ when he reaches adulthood.

4. He is featured in top rankings for the Class of 2023

In June 2020, Bronny was featured on ESPN’s Top 25 players of the class of 2023 list, where he was ranked #24. Three months later in September 2020, he was ranked #30 on 247 Sports Top 50 basketball recruits for the class of 2023.

According to LeBron James himself, Bronny does indeed shoot better than him. In 2019, ESPN National Recruiting Director Paul Biancardi said on Twitter that Bronny’s jump shot was better than his dad’s. LeBron James agreed with him, saying that both Bronny and his second son Bryce have better jump shots than him.

Bronny has received scholarship offers and has drawn interest from many schools. In January 2020, North Carolina Central University (NCCU) offered James Jr. a scholarship. More recently, Bronnny received an offer from Kentucky, with Duke, Kansas, North Carolina, and UCLA all showing interest as reported by 247sports. In fact, Bronny has been receiving college letters and scholarship offers since he was 10-years-old, which drew the ire of his famous father, who said: “It should be a violation. You shouldn’t be recruiting 10-year-old kids.”

Bronny currently wears no. 0. LeBron James mentioned in a 2015 Sports Illustrated interview that Bronny refuses to wear his numbers (no. 23 or no. 6 as a Miami Heat player) because “he doesn’t want people to know who he is,” which is difficult considering his name is literally LeBron James Jr. However, Bronny did surprise his father by wearing his no. 23 in 2018.

Bronny has always been passionate about gaming, as he streams (and gets trolled) on Twitch regularly and has 330,000 followers. In August 2020, he joined the professional gaming organization FaZe Clan, playing under the handle FaZe Bronny.

In 2018. Bronny James won the USBA (United States Basketball Association) with his AAU team the Blue Chips, in a game in Charlotte, North Carolina. Bronny played quite well and his father was in attendance at the game cheering him on from the sidelines

16. Magic Johnson says Bronny could surpass his dad

In a 2019 interview, NBA Hall of Famer Magic Johnson stated: “Normally what happens is sometimes with all that skill and talent that LeBron has, it passes to his son,” says Johnson. “I think that he has a chance to be unbelievable and either just as good as his dad or a little better.”
