LeBron “Bronny” James Jr. is celebrating his 16th birthday today (October 6). The son of NBA icon LeBron James, Bronny is a skilled and talented basketball player like his father and he has no shortage of potential to make a name for himself in the future. Below are 16 fun facts about Bronny James in honor of his 16th birthday.

1. He is the oldest of LeBron James Sr.’s three children

Bronny was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on Oct. 6, 2004, to LeBron James Sr. and his high school sweetheart Savannah James. His two siblings are 13-year-old Bryce and 5-year-old Zhuri James.

4. He is featured in top rankings for the Class of 2023

In June 2020, Bronny was featured on ESPN’s Top 25 players of the class of 2023 list, where he was ranked #24. Three months later in September 2020, he was ranked #30 on 247 Sports Top 50 basketball recruits for the class of 2023.

5. He shoots better than his father

According to LeBron James himself, Bronny does indeed shoot better than him. 6. He has received many college scholarship offers

More recently, Bronnny received an offer from Kentucky, with Duke, Kansas, North Carolina, and UCLA all showing interest as reported by 247sports. In fact, Bronny has been receiving college letters and scholarship offers since he was 10-years-old, which drew the ire of his famous father, who said: “It should be a violation. You shouldn’t be recruiting 10-year-old kids.”

7. He wears a no. 0 jersey

Bronny currently wears no. 0. LeBron James mentioned in a 2015 Sports Illustrated interview that Bronny refuses to wear his numbers (no. 23 or no. 6 as a Miami Heat player) because “he doesn’t want people to know who he is,” which is difficult considering his name is literally LeBron James Jr. However, Bronny did surprise his father by wearing his no. 23 in 2018.

16. Magic Johnson says Bronny could surpass his dad

In a 2019 interview, NBA Hall of Famer Magic Johnson stated: “Normally what happens is sometimes with all that skill and talent that LeBron has, it passes to his son,” says Johnson. “I think that he has a chance to be unbelievable and either just as good as his dad or a little better.”
