Awards season is gearing up to debut in full swing. Nominations are starting to roll out for all of the major awards shows and the BET Awards 2022 is no different. Meet the BET Awards young star nominees for 2022!
1. Akira Akbar
Akbar portrays Ashley Banks on the Peacock hit television series, Bel-Air. Before Bel-Air, Marvel fans already know Akira’s face as she appeared in the 2019 hit film Captain Marvel in the role of Monica Rambeau. However, that is not all of her acting credits. Akira also appeared on NBC‘s hit series, This is Us and in the Netflix film, We Can Be Heroes. She has Also starred in the Freeform series, Good Trouble.
2. Demi Singleton
Demi Singleton is no stranger to the small screen. Prior to her big screen debut, in King Richard, Singleton portrayed Margaret Johnson in Godfather of Harlem. In addition to acting, Singleton is an super talented singer and dancer.
3. Marsai Martin

Martin has gone from Black-ish actress to mogul in what seems like the blink of an eye. The talented teen started her own production company, producing and starring in her own feature-length film, as a result of this accomplishment, she made it into the Guinness Book of World Records. She has a nail care line, and is in the process of working on another production, Saturday’s, in conjunction with Disney.
4. Miles Brown
Miles Brown was a hit as Jack Johnson on ABC’s hit television show, Black-ish. In addition to acting, Brown is an extremely talented rapper and dancer. And let’s not forget, he is a tremendous basketball fan.
5. Saniyya Sidney
Sidney, at only 15-years-old, has an impressive resume that many adults would covet. The talent teen has starred in the following: FX’s American Horror Story Roanoke, Hidden Figures, and more recently, King Richard. In recognition of her stellar talent, Sidney has already earned two Critics’ Choice Awards, an NAACP Image Award, and two Screen Actors Guild Awards.
