Jason Derulo and his ex, Jena Frumes, gave their son, Jason King Derulo, a big celebration in honor of his first birthday. The celebrity parents shared precious moments from their son’s special day on their social media pages.
“I have a 1-year-old,” Jena Frumes told her Instagram fans this past Sunday (May 8). “So grateful for my little man,” Jena said. “I love him more than anything,” she continued. “He was born the day before Mother’s Day last year and now his birthday falls on Mother’s Day this year, which is so special because he’s the ultimate gift.”
Jena and Jason met right before the coronavirus pandemic led to lockdowns. The recording artist proposed to his partner within a matter of months. Jason and Jena welcomed their son on May 8, 2021, and decided to end their relationship later in the year. The two have been working together to co-parent their son harmoniously ever since.
“It’s a beautiful thing [that we can support each other], especially given our new relationship: co-parenting,” Jason Derulo said during an exclusive interview with PEOPLE last November. “We have an amazing relationship, and we don’t care if we’re confusing people about our situation because our situation is our situation,” the recording artist added.
“We love [our son] more than anything, and his wellbeing is really important to us,” Jason further explained. “I’m really attentive of (sic) her wellbeing as well, and I want her to be good,” Derulo said of his ex-fiancee. “I care about her a lot. We have an amazing relationship, contrary to a lot of people’s beliefs.”
Jena Frumes often shares pictures and video clips of her and Jason Derulo’s son with her social media fans. In fact, Jena uploaded a video to YouTube that showcased memories from a recent trip to Cabo that she enjoyed with her ex and their son.
“How does he look like both of you equally,” one fan asked after looking at Jason King’s pictures on Instagram. “He’s such a cute, beautiful, handsome, baby,” another social media follower said. “He seems so peaceful and happy.”
