It has been a while since fans were entertained by the Descendants franchise. Well, fans are about to jump for joy as the Descendants 4 movie, entitled, Descendants: The Rise of Red, will hit the small screen this summer. But of course, we have a first-look trailer of Descendants: The Rise of Red, to get everyone excited!

In the upcoming movie, former Villain Kid Uma (China Anne McClain), now headmaster of Auradon Prep, extends an invite to the school to another VK – Red, the rebellious daughter of the tyrannical Queen of Hearts from Wonderland. The Queen of Hearts has long held a grudge against Auradon, and especially Cinderella, and seizes the opportunity to seek revenge when she drops her daughter off at school. When the Queen of Hearts incites a coup against Auradon, Red must team up with Cinderella’s perfectionist daughter Chloe and travel back in time to try to undo the traumatic event that set Red’s mother down her villainous path.
Fans of the franchise have watched China Anne McClain grow up before our eyes on this musical fantasy journey. Now, at the helm of the franchise, starring as the headmaster of Auradon Prep herself, McClain opens up about how at first she was apprehensive about this new journey as a result of the loss of co-star, Cameron Boyce,who died in his sleep in 2019 at the age of 20 as a result of a seizure.
“I was apprehensive to revisit the Descendants world at first, because losing Cam was the first heartbreak I’ve ever experienced. But once I saw how excited the new generation of kids were, it reminded me of myself when we created the original films,” China shared in a statement.
“Everything came together beautifully. There’s one scene that is very special to me, I’m sure the audience will be able to guess which one it is once they see the movie. Stepping back into Uma was very fulfilling, and healing for me.”
Although we don’t have an exact release date for the upcoming movie, stay tuned and keep watch. Descendants: The Rise of Red will debut sometime this summer on Disney+.
