Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade have a plan when it comes to managing their kids’ social media pages. The Cheaper By The Dozen star recently shared her strategy with Drew Barrymore on The Drew Barrymore Show.
“With Zaya, she can only see comments from people that she follows,” Gabrielle revealed. “So unless she follows you, you cannot leave a comment,” the actress added. “And for Kaavia, obviously she can’t read.”
Kaavia James may not be able to read but she, nevertheless, has a massive following on Instagram. Kaav, also called “Shady Baby,” only follows 45 people yet has nearly two million followers. Many cannot get enough of the little one’s facial expressions that, when coupled with her mom’s hilarious captions, create funny storylines.
“It’s the storytelling face for us,” one fan said after seeing a recent Instagram post featuring Kaavia and her funny facial expressions. “Kaavia is always trending in South Africa for her facial expressions as a meme,” another supporter shared.
Dwyane Wade’s oldest child, Zaire, also has an Instagram account that has attracted both positive and negative comments. “When [Zaire] turned 16, all he wanted was his own Instagram,” Gabrielle told Drew Barrymore. “We set it up through my husband’s account so we could see his DMs,” Union shared.
“We were all up and through his DMs,” Gabrielle said. “And let me tell you, as much as folks were like ‘Euphoria’s not realistic,’ that show Euphoria was all up and through my child’s comments. Pretty accurate for teens.”
Euphoria is a show on HBO Max that has garnered much attention. The series revolves around drug addiction and sheds light on the fact that teens are just as susceptible as adults. Some have criticized the show as unrealistic. Gabrielle Union and other parents of teens, however, disagree.
“Scary, yes I know, but if you can get into those DMs, try,” Union suggested in reference to how parents can take charge to prevent cyberbullying and other negative aspects of social media use.
