Serena Williams has a budding piano player on her hands! The tennis star recently sat down with Jimmy Kimmel to talk about her upcoming film, King Richard, when the subject of her daughter, Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr., came up.
Kimmel asked Williams if she was rearing her daughter to be the next tennis sensation like her mom. “She likes tennis, but I don’t know,” Serena told Jimmy. “Honestly, she likes playing piano,” the star athlete admitted. “When she was in my belly, I played a lot of piano music,” Serena revealed.
“And she’s teaching me,” Williams exclaimed during her interview with Jimmy Kimmel. “Like, I’m not even kidding,” the celebrity mom continued. “I have a baby Mozart, [but] of course every parent thinks they have like, a baby Beethoven or whatever.”
Serena Williams recently shared a video clip of Alexis Olympia teaching her mom to play the piano while learning a few keys herself. Alexis was clearly the more skilled party in the clip and she was serious about hitting all the right notes. “I teach her tennis … She teaches me piano,” Serena told her social media fans.
Perhaps, Alexis Olympia will have the opportunity to learn about her mom’s upbringing in later years. King Richard centers around the tennis star’s father, Richard Williams, who was the driving force behind Serena and her older sister Venus Williams’ success in tennis when they were younger.
“It was really surreal because you’re watching this, and I feel like I’m at an age where I shouldn’t be a movie on-screen right now,” Serena Williams told Jimmy Kimmel. “I feel like there’s a few more decades where that should happen,” the celebrity admitted. “But it’s really interesting,” Serena said of the film. “It’s so emotional. It’s such a good movie. Will Smith does a fantastic job with playing my dad. It’s really genius.”
King Richard comes to theaters on Friday, November 19, 2021.
