Tracy Morgan wants to leave a legacy for his kids. The Last O.G. star recently sat down with the hosts of TODAY to discuss his life as a father.

“She’s very close to me,” Tracy shared when talking about his daughter, Maven Sonae. “We’re very close,” Morgan continued. “That’s my baby,” the celebrity father doted. “She’s my greatest co-star ever. Ever.”

Tracy became emotional as he continued to talk about his daughter. “She was 10 months old when I got hit by the truck,” Morgan told the hosts of TODAY. “People don’t just come out of comas — I had to fight,” the comedian added. “I knew I had to be here for her,” Tracy said of his road to recovery after being involved in a near-death accident seven years ago.

“I wanted to see my daughter,” the celebrity father continued. “I’ve always wanted a daughter. I have a female version of me, and I’m looking at her every day as she grows under my gaze. And I love her.”

Tracy Morgan and several of his friends were significantly injured when a Wal-Mart tractor-trailer slammed into their vehicle on June 7, 2014. One of Morgan’s close friends, James McNair, succumbed to his injuries from the accident.

Tracy Morgan was confined to a wheelchair for several weeks but, nevertheless, was ultimately able to recover from the life-changing incident. Now, the celebrity father hopes to leave his mark in the world.

“For my sons and my daughter, I just want to leave a legacy,” Morgan shared during his recent interview segment on TODAY. “When I’m long-gone dead, I want them to go to my star in Hollywood and say, ‘That’s my grandpop,'” the comedian continued. “And they can build on top of that.”

Maven Sonae is Tracy Morgan’s daughter with his estranged wife, Megan Wollover. The celebrity father has four kids – Maven, Gitrid, Malcolm, and Tracy Jr. – in all.
