La La Anthony and Carmelo Anthony are in full celebration mode today. The former couple’s son, Kiyan Anthony, is officially 16 years old.
Both La La and Carmelo took to Instagram to celebrate their teen’s latest milestone. “Happy Born Day,” Carmelo wrote to his son on Tuesday (Mar. 7). “Nothing makes me happier than seeing you grow into the person you were meant to be,” the celebrity father added.
La La also took to Instagram to commemorate Kiyan’s special day. “My boy is 16 today,” the television personality told her social media fans. “I still can’t really wrap my mind around having a 16-year-old,” the celebrity mom added.
“I always say I was blessed with a best friend and a son all in one,” La La shared of her mother-son relationship with Kiyan. “You are my happiness,” the doting mom wrote to her son. “You are my motivation. You are my EVERYTHING.”
Kiyan is Carmelo Anthony and La La Anthony’s only child. The youngster has, in many ways, grown up in the spotlight. In fact, it was just over a year ago that Kiyan asked his mom to grant him permission to get a tattoo. La La was not in agreement with such a request.
“You haven’t even turned 15 yet,” La La said at the time. “What 16 year old has a tattoo,” she asked in response to her son’s reasoning that a tattoo should be a Sweet 16 gift. “No,” the celebrity said in response to the request. “[You can get a] tattoo when you turn 21,” La La told her son. “Honestly, maybe 18,” she reconsidered.
La La admitted to her social media followers that she got her first tattoo younger in life. “So I did get my first tattoo at 15/16 years old but that first one I regret so bad!! Funny how when you have a kid the same things happen all over again. But I do think 16 is too young for @kiyananthony.”
Kiyan may have gone too far by asking his mom if he could have a tattoo at age 16. The youngster remains a loving teen, though, who makes his parents proud daily.
“You have the most humble and kind heart,” La La told her son on Tuesday. “You are the hardest worker and you are so focused and dedicated to your dream [that] it’s incredible to watch,” the celebrity mom continued.
“I’m honored to be your mom,” La La wrote to Kiyan. “I thank GOD for you everyday,” she added. “Enjoy your birthday and all the love.”
