Dwyane Wade had the support of his wife, Gabrielle Union, and daughter, Kaavia James, at his memoir launch this past weekend. The retired NBA player enjoyed a star-studded debut party.
“We celebrate you @dwyanewade,” Gabrielle Union shared on Instagram. “Great times last night celebrating ‘Dwyane’ a photographic memoir of the incredible life and career of @dwyanewade,” the celebrity mom said.
News of Dwyane Wade releasing a memoir spread in 2019. The former NBA player’s publisher, William Morrow, described the book as “a deep dive into the mind and heart of one of the most compelling basketball players of all time [and] the definitive inside look at the life and career of one of the sport’s biggest stars.”
Dwyane Wade played basketball professionally for sixteen years before retiring from the NBA in 2019. The star athlete won three championships and won a gold medal at the 2008 Olympic Games before hanging up his jersey for good. Wade spoke exclusively with Business Insider about the possibility of returning to the NBA as a coach during an interview last year.
“I will never go back as a coach,” the celebrity declared. “I don’t want to be a coach,” Wade reiterated. “That’s not my expertise. That’s not my strength as a basketball mind,” the celebrity shared. “I don’t want to go back and live the same schedule that I just retired from,” Wade further explained. “Coaches live the same schedule and even worse because they got to be there before you and after. I don’t want that life. Not at all.”
Dwyane Wade may not want to be an NBA coach in the coming years but he is definitely ready to promote his book in the near future. “Last night was fulfilling in a way that I can’t explain,” Wade told his social media fans on Sunday (Nov. 14). “We kicked off my [book] tour right at my home and in my back yard,” the celebrity shared with his social media fans. “I wanna thank everyone who was present last night and I wanna thank everyone who has purchased my photographic memoir DWYANE! I love you all and I’m blown away by your love and respect for my art!”
DWYANE makes its public debut on Tuesday, November 16, 2021. Learn more about Dwyane Wade’s memoir here.
