Dwyane Wade’s son, Zaire Wade, is speaking out about being drafted to the G League’s Salt Lake City (SLC) Stars after several critics accused him of having things handed to him. The rising talent wants the haters to know that he has worked hard and earned his spot in life.

“I think I just want people to know — first of all, I’m extremely blessed to have this opportunity from the Stars to even want to take interest in me,” Zaire recently told Andy Larsen of the Salt Lake Tribune. “I know I’m a young guy to develop. But I think a lot of people think that I’m not a hard-working kid and things get handed to me. If you don’t know me, you can’t say that,” the young star declared.

Zaire Wade was recently drafted by the G League of the Utah Jazz, which raised eyebrows among some critics. The scrutiny surrounded Zaire’s father being part-owner of the NBA team. Some accused Dwyane of pulling strings to help his son secure his lot in life. Others who were harsher with their criticism accused Zaire of taking a spot that someone else deserved.

“Nothing’s handed to me,” Zaire told the press during his recent interview. “Coach said he noticed after the first day I stepped here,” the young star shared. “I’m just working hard trying to earn everything myself,” Zaire told the media. “I’m trying to make a name for myself. So I think that’s what people should know.

Zaire has been trying to make a name for himself in the way of basketball since his days at Sierra Canyon. The youngster decided to stop playing ball for the school after Zaire believed he was not getting enough playing time. The young athlete’s father also expressed frustration over his son being benched. Dwyane Wade even stopped attending games to keep down confusion.

Zaire Wade is Dwyane Wade’s oldest son. The celebrity father has four kids – Zaire, Zaya, Kaavia James, and Xavier – in all.
