Shonda Rhimes joins other celebrity parents in praising teachers across America. The celebrity mom recently took to Twitter to share her struggles with homeschooling her kids during the coronavirus shutdown.
“[I’ve] been homeschooling a 6-year-old and 8-year-old for one hour and 11 minutes,” Shonda told her social media fans on Monday (March 16). “Teachers deserve to make a billion dollars a year,” Rhimes tweeted. “Or a week,” the celebrity mom further suggested.

The Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) closed all schools in its region last week in efforts to slow the spread of coronavirus. Specifically, the spread of COVID-19, the respiratory disease that develops with the latest strain of coronavirus, is what government officials are attempting to divert.
Public school systems in New York, New Jersey, and other states have also closed their doors for the time being. “I #LOVE my sons but teaching children is NOT my ministry,” Phaedra Parks of the Real Housewives of Atlanta (RHOA) wrote online earlier this week. “May God grant all the moms, dads and caretakers patience and grace during this quarantine,” the celebrity mom said. “God, send a village to sustain us during this difficult time.”
Yandy Smith also shared a post on Instagram in which she shared the difficulties of homeschooling. “My life homeschooling,” she said. “How do teachers do it with my 2 let alone 20 others,” Yandy asked.
Many schools closed with the initial reopen date of March 30, 2020. Most government officials, however, now say that schools may be closed for the rest of the school year at a minimum. Stay tuned for more coronavirus updates!
