Teyana Taylor has accused her estranged husband Iman Shumpert of being an irresponsible dad.
In court documents obtained by RadarOnline.com, Taylor paints a picture of neglect and endangerment of the couple’s two daughters, Junie and Rue.
Teyana claims that when the children are in Shumpert’s care, they are not fed properly. The accusations go beyond mere negligence, with the singer pointing to Shumpert’s alleged use of drugs while caring for them.
The court document states, “[Shumpert] consistently fails to properly care for the minor children including but not limited to failing to feed them despite being in the Martial Residence with the minor children, smoking marijuana and being under the influence while caring for the minor children….”
Specific incidents include Shumpert allegedly placing the children in a rideshare in Chicago, resulting in them being dropped off at the United Center in general population while he used the services of a private driver.
The document further asserts that “[Shumpert] consistently demonstrates a clear disregard for the safety of the minor children.”
The divorce proceedings also delve into the couple’s living arrangements and financial disputes. Taylor claims that Iman moved out of their marital home into a fully renovated property, leaving her and the children in a residence under construction for the past three years. She alleges that he failed to contribute to the agreed-upon renovations.
In response to the allegations, Iman Shumpert denies any irresponsible behavior. He also maintains that his new residence should be considered separate property, while Taylor argues that it is community property due to significant upgrades made by her and her parents.
Teyana Taylor initially filed for divorce in January 2023, but the couple decided attempt marriage counseling. Unfortunately, their efforts at reconciliation proved futile, leading to a resumption of the divorce process.
