We first got a glimpse of the Storm Reid magic when she appeared in her first film, A Wrinkle in Time. Since then, the 20-year-old has gone on to star in some of Hollywood’s most dominate blockbusters on both the small and big screens. In addition to honing her craft as an incredible actress, we have seen Reid morph into one of #younghollywood‘s most prolific fashion icons. Recently, the USC junior covered Galore‘s “Rebel Beauty” issue. Check out a few snippets from what she had to say below.
Although she now calls Los Angeles home, Storm Reid originally hails from Atlanta, Ga. And of course, the Emmy-nominated actress “ride[s] hard” for her hometown. When she got the opportunity to show her Atlanta pride, she did so in a 2000’s Atlanta-themed collab with New Balance.
“New Balance is a brand that I have loved my entire life. I have been working with them for a while and when they asked me to design a shoe, it was an honor & an immediate YES,” Reid said in her cover interview.
She continued talking about her collaboration, stating that the collection is something that a “young Storm” would have always wanted to do.
“I felt like it was an organic collaboration, I mean the team already feels like family. Anybody who knows me knows I ride hard for Atlanta. It’s my hometown. This collab & shoe is for young Storm who always had aspirations to work with a company like New Balance.”
If you didn’t know, her New Balance collab wasn’t the only venture into the fashion industry that Reid has made. The Missing actress also has her own clothing line, ArashiBlu.
“I have always loved collaborating with other brands but I always wanted my own brand. ArashiBlu started to pursue my other form of passion, design & fashion. It was such an amazing experience working with Pacsun on the capstone collab ArashiBlu x Pacsun.”
When asked in the interview since she can now put a check-mark next to the New Balance and PacSun collaboration dreams, who is on her “wish-list” to collab with next.
Reid responded, “Hands down New Balance was my biggest dream come true but I am working on my next goal.”
In terms of that “next goal,” Reid said that she first wants to “walk across the stage and graduate” and take on a role in a potential “romantic comedy.”
Additionally, Reid also has future plans to take a step behind the camera as well.
“Yes, I am highly interested in filmmaking. While I was on set for “A Wrinkle in Time” it was amazing to see Miss Ava behind the camera directing. I had the opportunity to step behind the camera for a few scenes and watch her work. I plan on giving directing a chance. If it doesn’t work out that is fine but I am interested in trying.”
