Dwyane Wade had the support of his family as he was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, MA, on August 12th. Standing proudly by his side were his wife Gabrielle Union; his kids Zaya Wade, Zaire Wade, Kaavia James, and his nephew Dahveon Morris. Missing from the celebration was Wade’s youngest son Xavier Wade.
Dwyane’s parents, Jolinda Wade and Dwyane Wade, Sr., were also in attendance for their son’s big day.
While the focus of the night was undoubtedly on celebrating Dwyane Wade’s remarkable achievements, it was Kaavia James who truly captured the spotlight during her father’s induction ceremony. Dressed in a white dress, the four year old exuded joy as she posed for photos on the red carpet.
Dwyane Wade retired from the NBA in 2019. His time playing basketball professionally led to several championship rings and a Olympic medals.
The NBA star expressed appreciation for loved ones who went out of their way to attend his hall of fame induction ceremony. He gave special praise to his wife, Gabrielle Union, for making their home a safe space.
“Thank you for making our house a home,” Wade told his wife during his acceptance speech. “Thank you for making sure our kids feel seen, heard and protected when I’m not around,” the retired basketball player continued. “Thank you for learning every ref’s name in the NBA and for screaming at them so I didn’t have to — saved a lot of fine money,” Dwyane joked.
“I know I’m traveling for work this year during our anniversary, so I want to say, thank you for being on this journey for me — with me, these past 15 years,” Dwyane told Gabrielle. “Thank you for learning to love my imperfections, just as much as we enjoyed and love the moments of perfection. I love you.”
