HOT 97’s 2023 Summer Jam returned to New York this year with Cardi B as its headline artist. The rapper brought her daughter, Kulture Cephus, along for the excitement.
Cardi delivered some of her most popular hits and also brought out up-and-coming artists GloRilla and Latto to perform during the show. Some may remember Cardi and GloRilla collaborating for the single ‘Tommorow 2’ last year. The song was GloRilla’s sequel to ‘Tomorrow,’ which she released months prior.
“I love how she supports other female rappers,” one fan tweeted in response to a social media post featuring Cardi B and GloRilla onstage at Summer Jam. “Ain’t no hate in her blood,” the supporter said of the ‘Bodak Yellow’ artist.
Cardi B works overtime to move her career forward while being a fantastic mom to her son, Wave, and daughter. “There weren’t a lot of artists out there who had babies at the beginning of their career,” the rapper recently said of her rise to fame.
“I didn’t have an album out when I found out I was pregnant,” Cardi shared with Vogue: Singapore. Cardi B learned that she was pregnant with her first child in 2017. The recording artist was at in the beginning stages of her rise to massive stardom at the time.
“Everybody was so nervous for my career and future, but I kept telling them, ‘It’s easy. Trust me, I’m going to have a nanny and she’s going to travel up and down with me. It’s not even going to be a hassle,’” Cardi said of her response to those who thought her growth as an artist would be short-lived.
While her rise to fame has been anything but short-lived, Cardi B has admittedly found herself at odds with the balancing act of building a viable career while also being a mother of two kids.
“I’m exhausted. I’ve been overwhelmed and scared,” Cardi revealed days after having to take her son to the hospital last year. “I started to think about how my mom had to go through this a lot because my sister and I used to always fall sick at the same time,” the recording artist shared. “Having kids helps you see things a little bit different.”
Wave and Kulture are Cardi B’s children with her husband, Offset. Kulture celebrates her fifth birthday next month.
