Holly Robinson Peete has a new children’s book called Charlie Makes A Splash. The veteran actress’ oldest son, RJ Peete, helped her write the story.
“So proud of my co-author @realrjpeete,” Holly said of her son this past Monday (Sep. 12). The celebrity mom took to Instagram to give thanks to those who purchased their copy of her new book when she also decided to express gratitude to her son for his transparency. “Thank you for your voice and for helping to normalize and celebrate neurodiversity in this world,” Holly wrote to RJ.
Charlie’s story is similar to RJ’s life. The main character in the children’s book lives with autism, which means he finds beauty in aspects of life that others typically overlook. Charlie is fascinated with water and especially loves to make a splash in puddles on rainy days. Through his story, readers learn that autism is not a debilitating condition but rather an invitation to enjoy life in a different manner.

Holly Robinson Peete recently sat down with New York Live to talk about her latest children’s book, which is a companion piece to her previous book, My Brother Charlie
“Twelve years ago, my daughter came to me and said, ‘No one understands what autism is, what my twin brother has, and let’s write a book because there are no children’s books really explaining to young kids,’ which is a very important time,” Holly shared with the press. “That’s when they develop compassion, and there’s no stigma and all of that. So we wrote that book, My Brother Charlie. It was amazing, it won awards, and I’m so proud of it,” the celebrity mom shared.
“But then, here we are all these years later, and we are doing the follow-up, the companion piece. And this time, RJ gets to be the author, which is great because he’s always talking about advocating for himself.”
You can purchase a copy of Charlie Makes A Splash on Amazon or wherever books are sold.
