Viola Davis and Julius Tennon have a 12-year-old on their hands! On Sunday (Jul. 10), Davis took to her Instagram page to give her daughter, Genesis, well wishes on the youngster’s birthday. The award-winning actress also shared throwback pictures of her tween in celebration of the day.

“Happy birthday to my HEART! My LOVE! MY EVERYTHING! My G! Happy 12th birthday,” Viola exclaimed. “I love you beyond anything I could imagine,” the actress wrote to her daughter.

“We all love you so much Genesis,” Bryce Dallas Howard wrote to Viola’s daughter in the comments section of the Instagram post. “Happy birthday you wonderful human!” Another fan asked, “How did we get to twelve? Happy Birthday, Genesis.”

Viola Davis and Julius Tennon adopted their daughter when she was a baby. Many remember when Genesis was a little girl accompanying her mom to red carpet events. Now, she is nearly ready to enter the teen years!

“I feel about Genesis the same way I feel about myself when I look at myself when I (was) younger,” Viola said during a recent interview with Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager of TODAY. “I think it’s a great opportunity to grow and even learn about me because I have to give her affirmations — every day I do it,” Davis shared.

“G, your heart and your head are the two most important things in your life,” Viola shared in reference to what she tells her daughter daily. “Genesis, mommy’s going to love you more than anyone is ever going to love you — even the love of your life. Genesis, life is going to be hard. I can give you everything, everything that I know, but it’s still going to be hard. I’m telling it to myself,” the celebrity mom declared.

Genesis made her acting debut in 2019 with a role in The Angry Birds Movie 2. Fans will have to keep following her to see if she continues to follow in her parents’ footsteps.
