The premiere of the Disney+ movie Sneakerella is right around the corner, and we cannot wait! The first Sneakerella song and music video has just dropped, and star Chosen Jacobs is showing off some serious dance moves!
If you haven’t quite heard about the upcoming movie starring both Jacobs and actress Lexi Underwood, here is a brief synopsis of what’s to come.
Sneakerella, isn’t you traditional Cinderella story. The reported pop/hip hop musical follows the story of Kira King, Underwood, who is the daughter o legendary basketball star and sneaker tycoon Darius King, portrayed by John Salley. King soon meets El, portrayed by Chosen Jacobs, who is an aspiring sneaker designer from Queens who works as a stock boy in a shoe store that once belonged to his deceased mother. One thing leads to another, sparks fly, and with the help o King and a Fairy Godfather, El finally gets the opportunity to realize his dream.
Disney’s VP of Original Movies Lauren Kisilevsky said in a statement to Deadline when the news of the upcoming movie first broke that, “Sneakerella brings a vibrant, modern approach to a beloved story by suggesting that magic is the result of hard work and determination and exists within each of us. [Director] Liz Allen’s unique vision, Lexi and Chosen’s amazing chemistry, the incredible music and the gravity-defying choreography, will bring this movie to life and inspire audiences of all ages.”
In addition to Underwood and Jacobs, John Salley, Devyn Nekoda, Juan Chioran, Bryan Terrell Clark, Kolton Stewart, Robyn Alomar, Yvonne Senat Jones and Hayward Leach also star in the project.
“Kicks” is unquestionably the perfect way to tease the music of the movie. The song was written by Antonina Armato, Tim James Price, Thomas Armato Sturges and Adam Schmalholz. Ebony Williams and Emilio Dosal choreographed the video.
