If you remember, McLaughlin was a former Disney star on Broadway as he portrayed Young Simba in the award-winning musical “The Lion King.” It is no wonder that the Stranger Things star is all smiles as he meets Rafiki at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.

Although Lucas Sinclair seemed to be McLaughlin’s break-out role, the young talented actor had amassed an impressive resume before debuting on the popular Netflix series.

According to his IMDb bio, the multi-talented star has worked on several television shows which include: ABC’s  Forever, CBS’s Unforgettable, NBC’s Law & Order SVU, HBO’s Miniseries Show Me a Hero, ABC’s 20/20 What Would You Do?, HBO’s Last Week Tonight with John Oliver and CBS’s Blue Bloods starring Tom Selleck. He can also be seen as Jay-Jay on NBC’s Shades of Blue starring Jennifer Lopez and he also starred in the BET biopic mini-series on the New Edition Story as Ricky Bell.

As we have gotten used to seeing McLaughlin as Lucas Sinclair on Stranger Things, the show is approaching the end with its fifth and final season.

Producer Shawn Levy explains in a recent interview with Screen Rant the decision behind ending Stranger Things with five total seasons.

“Well, we never wanted to run on fumes and we wanted to only tell as much story as the brothers saw and feel with clarity,” Levy tells Screen Rant, echoing similar comments made by creators Matt and Ross Duffer over the years.

He continued, “So it’s been clear for a while that they know exactly where we’re headed and this is the arc. We wouldn’t want to stick around for one moment beyond that vision and the clarity of that voice. So rather than focusing on that sad day that happens who knows when, the end of season five, I’ll just once again reaffirm what I’ve told everyone, which is it has been a long-ass wait for season four. But I swear to God, the world will realize it’s worth it.”

According to Screen Rant, Stranger Things 4 is said to be “twice the length” of previous seasons, so it isn’t just one season broken up into two parts, (hence, ending with “season 5”). Therefore, fans are getting almost two full seasons in one!

And of course, McLaughlin has another project in the works. He is set to star in an upcoming Lee Daniels Netflix movie alongside Octavia Spencer, Andra Day and Glenn Close.
