Jamie Foxx is rearing his daughters to be fearless. The celebrity father recently stopped by SiriusXM Urban View’s The Mike Muse Show to discuss his philosophy when rearing his daughter.
“I wanted them to be able to have the same type of energy that my grandmother gave me,” Jamie shared with Mike. “With our daughters, there’s a lot against them. We gotta prop them up,” Foxx shared. So I take them to places, let them see women handling jobs in high places, and empowering (sic) them in trying to unlock what has been locked for so many years with women of that, this is the only place you can go. This is as high as you can go. I said, ‘I want you to crack that glass ceiling. I want you to break it wide open.'”
Jamie Foxx has two daughters. The celebrity father has learned much from his oldest daughter, Corinne Fox, who serves as a producer in his company. Jamie has also gained a different perspective from his younger daughter, Annalise, who vocalized her distaste for Hip Hop during a recent conversation with her father.
“She’s like, ‘I don’t really like all that being called a b*tch, and a hoe and all that. I don’t like all that,'” Annalise told her father. “I said, ‘Wow.’ She said, ‘Why do y’all let that happen?’ And so that checked me. I’m like, ‘Whoa.’ So, she was like, ‘I don’t want to hear all of that.’ So my young daughter and my oldest daughter, so that’s what I mean, like things that they taught me.”
Labels tend to be the norm in America, which is something Jamie Foxx hopes to break. “I don’t know who’s making up these things,” the celebrity father shared during his recent segment on The Mike Muse Show. “America is a world of labels,” Foxx continued. “And the reason people label people is because that sits in your mind and that keeps you down,” the celebrity father shared. “So I tell my daughters, I don’t care what nobody says. You better go do everything you gotta do. They’re going to talk trash anyway.”
You can catch Jamie Foxx’s full interview on The Mike Muse Sho this Saturday (Oct. 23) at 2 p.m. (ET).
