In the upcoming series, 52-year-old Jamie Foxx stars as Brian Dixon, a single, successful business owner who is getting used to being a full-time dad to his teen daughter Sasha. As it takes a village, Brian leans on his own father, portrayed by David Alan Grier, and sister, Porscha Coleman, from Good Girls, for parenting help.
However, Brian Dixon isn’t the only character that Foxx will portray in the series. Foxx will also plays characters known as Rev. Sweet Tee, Cadillac Calvin and Rusty in this multi-cam series.
If Kyla Drew’s face looks familiar it should. She is previously known for Prisoners, Peppermint, and Nickelodeon’s hit television show, Nicky, Ricky, Dicky & Dawn.
Foxx and his real-life daughter, Corinne Foxx’s relationship was part of the inspiration for the series.
Last year, the 26-year-old won a Creative Arts Emmy for outstanding variety special for her live performance in front of a studio audience for Good Times. And as any parent would be, her father was nothing less than proud as he took to Instagram to celebrate his daughter’s accomplishment.
“Celebration, celebration,” he said in the video, with Corinne adding, “Cheers!” as they each raise a glass.
Both Foxx and his daughter Corinne will both serve as executive producers for the show. Bentley Kyle Evans, from The Jamie Foxx Show, will be showrunner. Ken Whittingham, from Black-ish, is set to direct.
