Willow Smith gave her mom, Jada Pinkett-Smith, a surprise to remember in honor of Mother’s Day. The recording artist reunited the members of her mom’s Wicked Wisdom band and rendered a selection from the group’s catalog of songs during the latest episode of Red Table Talk.
“Willow Smith orchestrated a really big surprise for me on this episode as well by paying homage to my Wicked Wisdom days,” Jada told her social media fans after the episode aired. “She decided to perform one [of] her fav songs she would watch me perform when she was on tour with me,” the celebrity mom said. “My heart burst in a thousand different ways having my daughter honor me in this way. I love you Willow.”
Willow worked on the surprise for three months and intensely practiced with the members of her mom’s former band for a week before delivering her surprise. The response from Jada made the efforts worthwhile as the celebrity mom got with the music’s groove and sang the lyrics of the song.
Singing was only the tip of the iceberg for Willow. The young adult also gave her mom a Mother’s Day tribute that evoked tears. “Mom, I just love you so much. And I just want you to feel a tiny little bit of the gratitude and love that you have given me throughout my entire life and continue to give me,” Willow said to Jada. “I just want to say Happy Mother’s Day, and you’re just always going to be Superwoman and Bad A** B*tch in my book. I love you.”
Dozens of Red Table Talk fans reacted to Willow’s Mother’s Day surprise. “Just finished watching [and I] couldn’t stop crying,” one viewer said. “Great Gift Willow.” Another Red Table Talk supporter wrote, “Awesome homage! Like, good luck trying to top this, Willow! Straight up outdid yourself.”
