“I can’t imagine a life without [my children] – I just cannot,” Chrissy tells the magazine. “And I can’t imagine a life without more, honestly, so we’ll see,” Teigen exclaims.

John Legend and Chrissy Teigen suffered a miscarriage last September after experiencing a partial placenta abruption. Teigen went to the hospital because of the abnormal bleeding caused by the abruption.

“I cried a little at first, then went into full-blown convulsions of snot and tears, my breath not able to catch up with my own incredibly deep sadness,” Chrissy said of her response to realizing that her unborn son, Jack Stephens, would not survive. “Utter and complete sadness,” Teigen continued.

John took pictures of his wife a the hospital against his wishes. Some criticized Chrissy for taking and sharing the pictures online. The celebrity, however, remained firm in her decision to grieve in such a manner.

“I knew I needed to know of this moment forever, the same way I needed to remember us kissing at the end of the aisle, the same way I needed to remember our tears of joy after Luna and Miles,” Chrissy told her fans. “And I absolutely knew I needed to share this story,” she added.

Now, approximately six months after the tragic experience, Chrissy is ready to move forward with the memory of Jack forever etched in her heart. “We have this new home that we’re building and this tree being planted inside the home, which is very relatable, yes, everyone has an indoor tree,” Teigen tells PEOPLE.

“The whole reason that I wanted it was so Jack’s ashes could be in that soil and he could be with us all the time and grow through the beautiful leaves on this tree and always be a part of us,” the celebrity mom shares. “He wasn’t just a moment in time,” Chrissy says of her late son. “He was real and he was real to us and we loved him.”
