Erykah Badu celebrated her daughter’s birthday in the sweetest way on February 1st. The recording artist shared candids of her tween, Mars, to commemorate the youngster’s twelfth birthday.
“The 12 winters of Mars Merkaba Electronica,” Erykah wrote online. “What a dream it has been to be your mama,” the celebrity shared with her daughter.
“I really, really like you so much,” Badu continued. “You are so funny, Bella! You are such a great friend and lil sis to 7 and Pu! Your dad @jayelectronica and I are super proud of you! Just continue to stay true to yourself and in-service to those who need you. You have much to share with this lil school called Earth! We ADORE you MARS.”

Mars is Erykah Badu’s youngest child. She was born in 2009 and joined her older siblings, Seven and Puma at home. Erykah shared her experience as a mom homeschooling her kids while on the road during a 2018 interview with The Guardian.
“I don’t know life [on the road] without children,” Badu revealed. “Baduizm came out in February 1997. I got pregnant in March 1997. So I’ve been pregnant or breast-feeding or with a new baby since the very beginning, and I was determined to use my energy to build something and I just take it one moment at a time.”
Taking it one moment at a time includes homeschooling her kids. “Languages are very important,” They’re very important in social evolution. Puma speaks French and Mandarin; Mars is speaking Spanish and starts French in the summer, and Seven is a Latin scholar.”
Mars is Erykah Badu’s daughter with Jay Electronica. Puma is the singer’s daughter with D.O.C. Seven, Badu’s oldest, is her child with Andre 3000. Puma celebrates her seventeenth birthday this year.
