SERENA WILLIAMS STAYS IN THE BACKGROUND AS DAUGHTER CONTINUES TENNIS LESSONS

Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr., the 3-year-old daughter of tennis icon Serena Williams and Reddit founder Alexis Ohanian Sr., has watched plenty of her mother’s matches and is now following in her mom’s footsteps.

Serena Williams recently took to her Instagram Stories to share that she has signed Olympia up for tennis lessons, emphasizing that she isn’t actually giving Olympia lessons and is staying in the background so she doesn’t become a distraction. As a 23-time Grand Slam winner, Serena is obviously well versed in tennis techniques and chose a coach for Olympia who is good at teaching them.

“I signed Olympia up for tennis lessons,” said Serena, teasing, “Don’t even start with me because I’m not giving her tennis lessons, I signed her up for some.”

“But the lady has no idea that it’s my daughter, so we’ll see how that goes,” says Serena. “I’m not a pushy mom, but I know how I like techniques, I want to make sure she’s good at teaching Olympia some techniques.”

Serena Williams also showed off Olympia’s tennis racket for her training and her daughter’s favorite doll Qai Qai. To prepare Olympia for her lessons, Serena showed Olympia some film from one of her previous matches at the U.S. Open and gave her tips. “See that open stance there? Look at the speed, be fast,” said Serena.

Serena also showed off the cute outfits she and Olympia would wear to the tennis lesson. Upon dropping Olympia off at her lesson and made a quick exit “so I’m not distracting.”

“I know how to leave and be; I’m not like an overprotective mom, no matter what Alexis says,” joked Serena.

It’s pretty safe to say that Olympia is getting the best training possible should she choose to pursue a tennis career like her esteemed mother. She is already off to a great start.
