Surprise! Angel Love Davis is a mother for the second time. The Basketball Wives star revealed her second child Savior Amar, who was born on May 23, and while she is proud to be a mom of two, it was quite a struggle for her to bring Savior Amar into the world.
Angel Love Davis recently discussed Savior Amar’s birth in an exclusive interview with PEOPLE. After going to a hospital in Atlanta, Georgia “for a normal checkup,” she ended up being admitted two months before Savior Amar’s birth. “I found out my cervix was funneling,” said Davis, “[which means] it was still closed at the bottom, but the top wasn’t closed all the way, so it looks like a funnel… It was a risk for preterm labor.”
Angel Love Davis, who happens to be a Registered Nurse, was then admitted and given medicine to stop the funneling, but it did not help. “It got to a point where [my cervix] opened all the way. I was dilated 1 centimeter, and I was maybe 23 or 24 weeks.”
Angel Love tried to “make it to 34 weeks,” but her water broke at 25 weeks. However, Davis’s medical team was able to delay the labor for another three weeks with medicine and steroids to strengthen the unborn Savior Aman. Davis finally gave birth to Savior Aman 28 weeks prematurely, and he weighed only two pounds. He was delivered via emergency C-section, and Davis was amazed by Savior Amar’s strength, despite his premature birth.
“They actually felt his leg. He was about to walk on out!” joked Davis. “He didn’t have to be intubated; he came out breathing on his own, which was all a blessing,” she says. “He had some oxygen for a little while [and] a feeding tube, and that’s just because of him learning to have that sucking reflex he just didn’t have at that time because he still was a preemie… [Two weeks later] he started latching on to the breast.”

Angel Love’s first child, 6-year-old Heaven Love who she had with her ex, former NBA player DeJuan Blair, was a full-term pregnancy, and she naturally assumed the situation would be the same with Savior Amar. “I never realized what it was like being on that other side of being a mother and you’re battling going into preterm labor and maybe having a premature baby,” said Davis. “It just all made me realize the blessings that everything comes with — just knowing that you’re able to get pregnant, ’cause a lot of women struggle with even getting pregnant.”
Angel Love Davis took to Instagram to share her adorable son with the world, posting a sweet family photo of her herself, Heaven Love, and Savior Amar. She captioned the post: “These past few months have been a real journey and one of my biggest blessings. I would like to introduce my son Savior Amar my second biggest blessing! The biggest thanks to my mom, my family & friends that supported me during this tough time! Love y’all ❤️ Team Heaven, Savior, & Angel… amen!”
