Angela Simmons’ son Sutton Joseph Tennyson is officially 10!
Sutton celebrated his birthday on Sept. 22, but the festivities started early with a pre-birthday celebration at a mini-golf venue. Angela shared photos from the gathering, which included family, friends, cake and oversized gold balloons spelling out “10.”
“Omg tomorrow you are 10,” she posted on Instagram Stories.
That night, Angela continued one of their birthday traditions at home. She baked Sutton a homemade cake and shared a glimpse of several gifts waiting for him the next morning.
“Tradition,” she captioned the clip. “Tomorrow morning he will be so happy. 7:55 pm Sept 22 2016 Sutton Joseph Tennyson Was born.”
She followed that with a throwback photo of herself and Sutton Tennyson Sr. holding their newborn son.
“10 years ago. Where it all began,” she added.
Once his birthday arrived, Angela shared a tribute to her “big boy” on Instagram.
“And then God made you!” she began. “Happy 10th Birthday to my Big Boy! I’m so proud of you. We are so proud of you.”
Angela also included Sutton’s late father in the birthday message.
“Your dad would be too,” she continued. “Love you to the moon and back. The world is yours.”
Sutton was 2 years old when his father was shot and killed in Atlanta in November 2018. Tennyson was 37.
Later that year, Angela reflected on losing the father of her son.
“As this year comes to a close … I reflect on the most difficult hurdle I’ve ever had to face. And it’s losing my son’s father,” she wrote.
On the first anniversary of Tennyson’s death, Angela paid tribute to him again and gave him an update on their son, who was 3 at the time.
“I want to let you know your baby boy is flourishing, he’s growing. He’s everything you knew he’d be and even more,” she said.
