Angela Simmons keeps it real about single motherhood. The celebrity mom tells TooFab exclusively how she settles into parenthood as her son, Sutton Tennyson Jr., gets older.

“You really just have to be present to your moments,” Angela shares. “He’s gonna feel different, different times as he grows and I just have to be present to it,” the celebrity mom adds. “There’s no real preparation, it’s just being present to the moments.”

Sutton Tennyson Sr. was killed in Atlanta, Georgia, in 2018. His sudden death came weeks before Thanksgiving and left Angela bewildered. The Growing Up Hip Hop (GUHH) struggled to cope with the loss of her son’s father back then and presently deals with the challenge of telling her son that his father is dead.

“I have tons of pictures and videos,” Angela tells TooFab. “Even last night, I showed him stuff of his dad and when we first met,” she adds. “It keeps him inquisitive and he has a lot of questions but it’s perfect because he knows what his dad looks like, and its good to be able to connect yourself with your father and to show him that means a lot.”

Little Sutton also connects with his father in character. It was just a few weeks ago that Angela Simmons shared a hilarious clip of her son cleaning her closet while complaining about the mess. “You make a mess in here,” little SJ told his mom.

“His dad used to be on me if it’s not super organized, like OCD and I already see it in my son,” Simmons shares with TooFab. “He’s not playing with me,” the celebrity mom adds. “He’s like, ‘Fix the closet, do this,’ and I’m like, ‘Am I the parent or are you?'”
