TIA MOWRY SAYS SHE WAS ONLY ABLE TO BREASTFEED HER SON ‘FOR ABOUT THREE MONTHS’

"I Cried"

Tia Mowry wishes that she had a community of fellow moms to tell her about the mysteries of breastfeeding. The Family Reunion star recently told her ‘Quick Fix’ YouTube fans that she was devastated when she had to give her son, Cree Hardrict, formula.

“When I had Cree, I really, really wanted to breastfeed,” Tia shared. “I was only able to do it for about three months,” the actress admitted. “I remember when I wasn’t producing enough milk and I desperately had to go to formula. I cried,” Mowry continued.

“It’s so weird how, as moms, how emotional you get when you realize that you can’t provide your baby with breastmilk. … I wish that there was more of a community that I could have gone to [that would have] let me know, ‘It’s okay. Don’t worry if you can’t breastfeed.'”

Things have been different for the celebrity mom the second time around. Tia breastfeeds her daughter, Cairo, who celebrated her first birthday last month.

“What I did differently with my daughter, Cairo, was … while I was pregnant, I read up on a lot of information,” Tia said of her approach to breastfeeding the second time around. “When my son was born, I didn’t have Instagram. There wasn’t this community of women that I could just go to that was just kind of a click away,” she explained.

“I didn’t do a lot of research when I had my son, Cree,” Mowry admitted in the video. “I was new to this,” she added. “I was a new mom, and to be honest with you, I thought it was just going to come easy. You hear a lot about breastfeeding being such this natural, instinctual thing that just naturally happens. For some women it does [happen that way]. But for many women, it does not [happen like that]. So that was me when I had Cree. I did not do a lot of research and I thought it was just going to happen.”

Cree celebrates his eighth birthday later this month. Tia and her husband, Cory Hardrict, commemorated their daughter’s first birthday last month. Stay tuned for more celebrity kids news!
