Mel B of the Spice Girls does not believe in bad-mouthing her exes to the kids. The celebrity mom shares her philosophy with OK! magazine.
“I’ve never said a bad word about any of their fathers to my daughters,” the Spice Girls singer says. “Angel sees her dad [Eddie Murphy] on a regular basis,” Mel continues. “One thing I do with all three of my girls is [to] make sure they know that they’re loved and that they came from a place of a loving relationship. I always make it a very exciting thing when I send them off to their fathers.”
The celebrity mom further explains, “Angel is different because me and her dad don’t have any problems with each other. With Madison [whose dad is Stephen Belafonte] they take everything in, so I try to make it exciting for her, even though I have huge issues with her father.”
Mel B filed for divorce from Stephen Belafonte several months back after allegedly suffering years of abuse. “When I decided to write about my marriages, my family and my life, it wasn’t an easy decision,” the celebrity mom wrote in a recent op-ed with her daughter, Phoenix.
“I knew I’d have to be completely open – otherwise what was the point? But what floored me was talking about my daughters and how they suffered from my ten-year relationship with a man called Stephen Stansbury [he calls himself Stephen Belafonte]. I thought I was in love but it turned out I was in hell.”
