“The joy of joy is joy!! It’s a boy!!” Alicia Keys and Swizz Beatz posted on Instagram, announcing the birth of their second son. He has been named Genesis Ali, and was born Saturday December 27th at 1:52 am. Weighing only 6 lbs, 5 oz, he is the biggest New Year’s gift the family could receive.
During her pregnancy, Alicia had been very secretive about the sex of the baby, although there had been speculation that she was having another boy. Their first son, Egypt, was born in 2010, shortly after the couple wed at their private home on the Mediterranean Sea. The songstress has spent the last few months proudly sharing how excited Egypt was to be a big brother: “He’s always kissing my belly.”
No doubt it has been a crazy last few months. The mommy-to-be had been on-the-go and in all the headlines for her recent words against war and violence, and her hit protest song “We Are Here.” She also received major attention for posing nude with a peace sign plastered over her baby bump. Little Genesis was part of the movement before he even made it out the birth canal.
Alicia had said “Being a mother has definitely given me more of a fierceness and an understanding of just what I believe in, that much more.”
Genesis is the fifth addition to the family, as Swizz Beatz is a father to three from previous relationships.
