Congratulations to Kerry Washington and husband Nnamdi Asomugha! The couple welcomed a baby girl nearly two weeks ago. Isabelle Amarachi Asomugha was born at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in L.A. on April 21. The bundle of joy is the first for Kerry and Nnamdi who wed last year.
Washington announced her expectancy on October 30, 2013, but her ‘Scandal’ character, Olivia Pope, remained motherless throughout this past season. “I’m just grateful for how hard everybody has worked to maintain the authenticity of this character in this world,” said Kerry when asked about the cast’s ability to conceal her pregnancy onset. “I’m grateful to [costume designer] Lyn Paolo and all our producers. … I feel very grateful that we have such an amazing team that was able to protect the character within the context of what the actress was going through.”
Kerry and Nnamdi wed in Hailey, Idaho on June 24, 2013.
