While most parents are working hard to give their kids things they never had, T.I. is aiming to let his kids work their way up in society. The rapper tells media that he would tell any wealthy mom or dad to hold off on giving their kids everything until they put in the work to earn it.
“Start ’em off from nothing,” says the rap star. “Those of us who come from nothing or grew up with less, the one thing we try to do is afford all of our kids the things that we didn’t have. That’s a wonderful thing to do however, when we do that, we have to make sure that we instill the values and the principles that come along with us acquiring the things we now have.”
T.I. also discusses his reality show, which portrays him as a family man, in conjunction with his artistry that presents him as being hardcore. “I think diversity is the key, as well as evolution,” explains the rapper. “I think I talk about my life and my experiences [when rapping]…What you see in ‘Family Hustle’ [is] usually me before I leave the house, before I get dressed. Once I sit in the car and head into the city, it’s different face on.”
T.I. and wife Tameka “Tiny” Harris parent six kids together.
