In less than a few years, actress Keke Palmer,16, has proven to be a triple threat. She recently signed a new multi-album recording contract with music industry powerhouse Interscope records; she has a popular Nickelodeon series, True Jackson: VP, which has been picked up for a second season; and she has a teen/tween Fashion line, Mad Style. Seventeen magazine got a chance to talk to the young star about her latest venture, clothing line MadStyle by True Jackson VP.
On her favorite thing from Mad Style:
My favorite thing, I’d have to say, is the little pink shirts with the quotes on them. Everything is very nice, but I love them because they send a good message like be true to who you are and stay true to yourself, be true. It’s really cute. I love that.
On her personal style:
It’s very different from True Jackson’s. She’s more preppy, like Armani Exchange and the more preppy side of Marc Jacobs.
On who her style icons are:
Some of my favorite style icons are Kate Moss and Rihanna, except I’m a little bit younger. I put a little bit more teenage into it.
On working on a new album:
I’m writing, recording. I’m so excited because Interscope is a really good label and they do their artists very well. So being a part of their company is just a dream come true. I also just had a movie that came out called Shrink with Robin Williams and Kevin Spacey. It’s an intense drama. People that have seen it luckily we have been getting a lot of good words, so I am excited about that.
On which she prefers, singing or acting?:
This is hard to answer. I probably have to say…I can’t pick. Singing was my first passion. Whenever I sing, I’m always so happy. And if I had to choose, it would probably be singing, because we get to do acting as well. We get to act, dance and sing all at once.
