Want to know what to expect from this upcoming remake that focuses on an all Black family? Check out a brief synopsis from Variety below.

Seventeen-year-old Tanya Crandell (Simone Joy Jones) is in for the summer of her life — only not the one she planned. She’s been looking forward to a two-month trip to Spain with her besties to blow off steam. However, this rapidly changes once her widowed mom (Patricia “Ms. Pat” Williams) has a nervous breakdown at work and needs Tanya’s vacation funds for a medically mandated, immersive yoga retreat in Thailand. But the worst news is yet to come. Mom has hired a babysitter to watch over Tanya and her siblings: burn-out Kenny (Donielle T. Hansley Jr.), macabre Melissa (Ayaamii Sledge) and naive Zack (Carter Young).

According to Variety, the remake gets two thumbs up as it “proves a worthy remake. Putting a modern comic spin on its ’90s counterpart’s opening sequence, it sets up our young heroine for a rude awakening and an indelible coming-of-age journey.”

If young Carter’s face, looks familiar, then it should. According to his official IMDb.com account, he has been featured in various print campaigns and modeled for companies like Walmart, Pottery Barn, Tea Collection, and Babiekins Magazine.

In addition to his modeling career, Carter has been seen in titles that include: FX’s Mayans M.C., In the Gray (short), Velvet Jesus, Inu-oh, Junior, and Danger Force.

In addition to Carter and the above mentioned, Don’t Tell Mom The Babysitter’s Dead also stars: Nicole Richie, Miles Fowler, Iantha Richardson, Gus Kenworthy, June Squibb, and Jermaine Fowler.

The project is directed by Wade Allain-Marcus and the screenplay is written by Chuck Hayward, based on the screenplay by Neil Landau and Tara Ison. Don’t Tell Mom The Babysitter’s Dead is produced by Iconic Events Releasing presents a BET+ Original Film of a Spiral Stairs Entertainment Production in association with Treehouse Pictures, SMIZE Productions.

Make sure to set your reminders as this remake will hit the big screen on April 12, 2024
