Things appear to be looking up for Marlon Wayans.
According to TMZ, the actor’s ex-girlfriend, Brittany Moreland, has moved to dismiss the child custody case she filed against him over their daughter, Axl July Ivory Wayans.
In her original filing, Moreland sought primary custody of Axl, while Wayans pushed for joint custody. The case reportedly saw little activity over the past year before the recent dismissal request, suggesting the former couple may have reached an agreement outside of court.
The legal update comes as Axl is beginning to step into the spotlight herself.
Earlier this year, TMZ reported that the youngster landed a role in the upcoming film Hudson Avenue, earning a daily rate of $1,246 for her work on the project.
Axl also recently made a rare public appearance alongside her father at the world premiere of Scary Movie 6 in Los Angeles.
Wayans walked the red carpet on June 3 with two of his children, son Shawn Howell Wayans and Axl, marking the youngster’s red carpet debut.
The family outing was especially fitting given that Scary Movie 6 is a true Wayans family affair. The film features Marlon, his brother Shawn Wayans, son Shawn Howell Wayans, and several younger members of the famous entertainment family.
In a featurette for the movie, Marlon explained why it was important to include the next generation.
“A Wayans movie ain’t a Wayans movie until you have multiple Wayans’ in there,” Marlon said in the clip.
“It’s good teaching the young ones how to do it,” he added.
Wayans is a father of three. In addition to Axl, he shares son Shawn Howell Wayans and eldest child Kai Wayans, an artist, DJ, and advocate for LGBTQ+ and transgender rights.
