Monica and Rocko Da Don have created a legacy together. Monica recently took to Instagram to celebrate her latest collaboration with the father of her sons.
Several of the candids featured Monica and Rocko backstage with their kids. Romelo and and Rodney Jr. were photographed with their older brother who is Rocko’s son from a previous relationship. “Created a legacy with a legend,” Monica said of her latest partnership with Rocko.
There was a time when Monica and Rocko were reportedly not on speaking terms by way of social media. The celebrity parents allegedly blocked each other on Instagram in 2020, though neither Monica nor Rocko publicly criticized one another. Monica later revealed that the father of her sons has grown to be her best friend since they cut ties years ago.
“We been apart for 10 years and over the last few, I would say over the last six months, he really has become one of my best friends,” Monica said during the latter part of 2020. “Because see what people don’t understand is, when you raise kids together, stuff starts going in stages,” the recording artist shared.
Monica’s relationship with Rocko preceded her marriage to Shannon Brown, which ended in 2019. “I’m proud of what my marriage was,” Monica shared during a recent confessional. “It lasted nine years, [and] I have an amazing daughter,” she added. “I learned a lot, I lived a lot,” the recording artist continued.
“I wasn’t looking for nothing when we met,” Monica said of her expectations going into marriage in 2010. “I hadn’t heard of him. I didn’t know who he was. My boys were super small so I wasn’t watching sports. I didn’t know who he was at all. But it happened because it was supposed to happen,” the singer declared.
Monica and Shannon Brown’s daughter, Laiyah, celebrated her ninth birthday last month. Monica’s youngest son, Romelo, turns 15 years old in January.
