Toy Story 4 offers more than just a storyline in which toy owners learn about what their toys do when humans are not in the room. The story is about expanding the community to include more characters. Keegan-Michael Key is one of many newcomers in the latest installment of the Toy Story franchise.
“I have seen the finished product,” the actor, who supplies the voice over for Ducky, said during a recent interview with ET exclusively. “I laughed, I cried, I was inspired,” Key added. “I’ve seen them all. I know I’m partial. [Toy Story 4], it’s my favorite.”
There is much to love about the fourth installment to a film series that revolutionized the industry more than 20 years ago. The idea of toys serving as main characters while humans took a back seat was not a popular concept in 1995. Buzz Lightyear and Woody, however, trailblazed a path that several movies have followed over the years.
Toy Story 4 continues in the tradition of letting the toys be the stars. This time around, the challenge revolves around staying with human owners. Even Woody, in all of his loyalty to Bonnie, may decide to follow Bo Peep and others on the path to embracing independence.
What would life look like with Woody as a toy devoted to himself and no one else? You will have to check out Toy Story 4 – starring Jordan Peele, Tim Allen, Tom Hanks, and more – in theaters on Friday, June 21, 2019, to find out! Check out the film’s trailer below!
