Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is officially a Disney Legend.
The actor, 54, was honored at the 2026 Disney Legends Awards ceremony in Anaheim, Calif., on Aug. 16, alongside other stars, including Anne Hathaway, Lin-Manuel Miranda and the Jonas Brothers.
During the ceremony, Johnson reflected on his long history with Disney and shared a special memory involving his eldest daughter, Simone Johnson, now 25.
He recalled taking Simone to Disney when she was just five years old and watching her make a wish with one of the princesses.
“And I’ll never forget she closed her eyes and she made a wish. I might get emotional, but she made a wish,” Johnson shared. “And I just remember that moment looking at my daughter’s face. Like, I’ve never seen that before. Like, she was just so into making a wish.”
The moment left the proud dad wondering what his little girl had wished for.
“And I was telling Danny, I said, ‘God, I I wonder what was going through her little mind at that time.’ And it’s just experiences like that that we create that I know she’ll never forget that I’ll never forget.”
With Simone celebrating her birthday that weekend, Johnson also led the audience in singing “Happy Birthday” to her.
The father of three then gave a shout-out to his younger daughters, Jasmine, 10, and Tiana, 8, who were watching from home in Boston.
“I love my little daughters who are home too her sisters Jazzy and Tia they’re back in Boston they’re watching right now I know they will,” he said.
Johnson went on to share how he explained the meaning of becoming a Disney Legend to his girls. While he first joked that it meant getting “free tickets for the rest of my life,” he said the real meaning comes back to something he regularly teaches them.
“If you ask Jazzy and Tia, her sisters, Simone’s sisters, hey, what’s the best part of fame? They’ll say making people feel good.”
He continued by stressing the importance of kindness, regardless of fame or recognition.
“I think what our responsibility is to be a human being which is treat do our best it’s not easy but do our best to make people feel good and treat them with kindness because you never know what they’re going through.”
Johnson closed with a quote he said has stayed with him since he was 15.
“It’s nice to be important, but it’s more important to be nice. I mean that with my heart.”
Johnson, who voiced the demigod Maui in Disney’s Moana films, is set to reprise the role in the upcoming Moana 3.
