Rapper NLE Choppa took to Instagram earlier today to share new photos of his two kids, Clover and ChoZen, giving fans a behind-the-scenes look from the set of his upcoming music video for “444.”
Along with the pictures, he shared an emotional message about his personal struggles and growth.
“Behind the scenes hell is bestowed upon me, darkness is weighed heavy on my light. Everyday my faith is tested yet I still see with my heart when my eyes are blinded. Guided is what I am and this month I’m ready to show the side of me that’s being called for higher! I Am A Artist, Not A Contradiction.”
Born Bryson Potts, NLE Choppa became a father in 2020 when he and his ex, Mariah, welcomed their daughter, Clover, on June 20, 2020.
“This is my ‘ANGEL,’ ” he wrote in a now-deleted Instagram post from 2023. “You Are The Reason I LIVE … When I Found Out You Were [conceived] You Gave Me Something To Not Only Look Forward To, But Something To Live For!”
Three years later, in August 2023, the musician and Da’Nae welcomed their son, ChoZen Wone Da’Shun. In an Instagram Story, NLE Choppa shared the meaning behind his son’s name.
“His name is special, spiritual and unique. ChoZen – picked by God, God’s favorite and also zenful energy,” he said, adding that Wone means that his son has “already ‘won’ at life.”
There’s no doubt that being a father has given NLE Choppa a new perspective on life. In a June 2024 interview on The Rap Dads Show, he reflected on how his children have changed him.
“Having kids makes you realize the world isn’t just about you. They’re a reflection of me. I see myself in them every day,” he said.
He continued, “It shows you the world [does not revolve] around you,” he said. “It shows you that your kids are you. That’s the thing I see the most.”
Looking at his children, NLE Choppa sees pieces of himself. “I look at my daughter, I look at my son, I be like, man damn. Y’all pick up on the same traits that I have,” he added.
