Football fans got a double treat on Christmas Day during the Texans-Ravens football game, which was streamed on Netflix. Viewership peaked at the halftime show as Beyonce took the field to perform. Dubbed the Beyonce Bowl, with over 27 million viewers, the former Destiny’s Child member shared the stage during the halftime show with daughter, Blue Ivy.
In her hometown of Houston, TX, Beyonce performed the first live performance of her “Cowboy Carter” songs. She, her daughter, and the host of talented additional performers showcased many of the songs from the hit album. Beyonce sang “16 Carriages,” “Blackbird,” “American Requiem,” “Ya Ya,” “Jolene” and many others. Other famous faces that accompanied the singer on stage included: Post Malone, Shaboozey, Reyna Roberts, Tanner Adell, Brittney Spencer, and Tiera Kennedy.
In addition to the host of special celebrity guests, the native-Houston also invited members of Texas Southern University’s award-winning marching band, Ocean of Soul Marching Band, to accompany her on the field as well.
When it came time for the mother-of-three to sing, “Texas Hold ‘Em,” she had a surprise for fans. The 43-year-old changed the lyrics of the song, giving her daughter a shout-out.
Beyonce changed one of the lyrics in the pre-chorus to reference her daughter. Instead of saying, “Then spin me in the middle, boy, I can’t read your mind,” the singer changed the word “boy” for Blue. While singing this line, she and her daughter spun each other around in a classic do-si-do line dancing move and continued with their performance.
Blue Ivy is truly making a name for herself outside of that of her famous parents.
Most recently, the talented young rising star celebrated her success in Mufasa: The Lion King where the 12-year-old voices Kiara, the daughter of Simba (voiced by Donald Glover) and Nala (voiced by Beyonce).
In addition to Blue Ivy, Beyonce also shares two additional children with husband, Jay-Z: Rumi and Sir Carter, who were born on June 13, 2017.
