Ziggy Marley, his wife Orly, and their kids attended “Bob Marley: One Love” premiere on February 06, 2024 in Los Angeles, California.
The event held special significance for Ziggy, who was just 12 years old when his father, Bob Marley, passed away.
Now decades later, the musician finds himself deeply immersed in the process of bringing his father’s remarkable legacy to the big screen.
Ziggy, along with his mother Rita and sister Cedella, took on the roles of producers for the film, while Orly served as an executive producer.
“It’s coming from us. And for it to be really true and authentic, then we have to be a part of that to make sure it’s done the right way,” he shared with People. “I think the message of the movie and the title of the movie is a very powerful idea to put out into the world right now. So I think it’s come at the right moment.”
Bob Marley’s legacy extends far beyond his music. During his lifetime, he fathered 11 children with multiple women before succumbing to cancer at the age of 36 in 1981. He is survived by more than 20 grandchildren.
Ziggy, who himself is father of seven, including four children with his wife Orly, says his family still feels connected to Bob.
“Everything we do is a part of the whole. It’s like we’re a part of him, and he’s a part of us. It’s one,” he says. “We speak with our love, and it’s not words. We don’t have to talk much — we can just feel. My smile is honoring him. I laugh and it looks like his laugh. Pieces of him are a part of me.”
Bob Marley: One Love hits theaters on Feb. 14, 2024.
