DISNEY DROPS FIRST-LOOK TRAILER FOR “MOANA 2”

From birthday party themes to Halloween costumes, collectables and beyond, Moana, became one of Disney’s top-grossing animated movies of all time, racking up over $687M at the box office in 2016.

So, it is not a surprise that The Mouse House’s CEO Bob Iger announced that Moana 2 is on the way!

“Moana remains an incredibly popular franchise,” Iger shared the news the in a CNBC interview. “And we can’t wait to give you more of Moana and Maui when Moana 2 comes to theaters this November.”

So, what can fans of the two-time Oscar-nominated animated feature film expect from this second installment? 

According to Deadline, Moana 2 is set to “take audiences on an expansive new voyage with Moana, Maui and a brand-new crew of unlikely seafarers.

After receiving an unexpected call from her wayfinding ancestors, Moana must journey to the far seas of Oceania and into dangerous, long-lost waters for an adventure unlike anything she’s ever faced.”

The upcoming film will be directed by Dave Derrick Jr. and feature music by Grammy winners Abigail Barlow and Emily Bear, Grammy nominee Opetaia Foa’i, and three-time Grammy winner Mark Mancina.

As of yet, there is no word if Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson will return to voice Maui for the sequel.

However, The Rock is still on board for reprising his role as Maui in the live-action version of the 2016 film which is still in the works and planned for a June 27, 2025 theatrical release.

You read that right, the next couple of years will be filled with Moana!
