In an interview prior to her Saturday show, Mo’Nique expressed her eagerness to reconnect with her dedicated fanbase. She admitted on Big Tigger’s Morning Show on Atlanta’s V-103, “That stage, that live stage, there’s nothing like it.”

“You can do TV, you can do movies, you can do so many things, but in the moment… it is nothing like in the moment walking on that stage… and I got something to say. You know I always got something to say and this Saturday will be no different.”

When discussing how she manages to balance motherhood and her career, Mo’Nique shed light on her perspective: “You can [have it all]. It’s how you put your priorities.”

“Oftentimes we as Black women in this business, we want it so bad that we put this first. This is first and everything else falls back. And I went through that with my first set of children,” she said.

Mo’Nique is mom to sons, Mark Eric Jackson Jr. and Shalon Calvin Jackson, with her ex-husband Mark Jackson. In October 2005, she gave birth to a set of twin sons, Jonathan and David Hicks, whom she shares with husband Sidney Hicks.

“With this [the twins], I prayed, ‘Please give me a second chance.’ So, the priority is my family before anything. Then everything comes after that because when you get to your last moment, I give you my word Hollywood won’t be there. If you put the priority where it’s supposed to be, then it all works out.”
