Mo’Nique and her husband, Sidney Hicks, are on a staycation at home with the kids. The Oscar winner recently shared pictures and video clips from the family event a few days ago.
“So we decided to take a family staycation this early Sunday morning,” Mo’Nique shared this past weekend. “I hope y’all taking one too,” the actress exclaimed. “We love y’all to happiness,” Mo’Nique told her fans.
Mo’Nique is the proud mother of four sons – Shalon, Jonathan, David, and Mark Jr. The ‘Precious’ actress recently delved into how her life as a movie star overshadowed her life as a mother to her oldest son, Shalon.
“There was a time that when he was a little boy, I wasn’t interested in being a mother,” Mo’Nique admitted during her interview with The David Banner Podcast.
Mo’Nique further explained, “I was interested in being a star and I was interested in being famous. And I wasn’t interested in being a wife. I was interested in taking pictures and red carpets, and signing autographs, and traveling the world, so I really didn’t put the focus in.”
Placing more attention on her career instead of her life as a mom has come with consequences. “Now that I’m 52 and he’ll be 30, well, I pay for that,” Mo’Nique admitted.
“There’s a price you have to pay for that. And I had to apologize to my son because I said to him, ‘I don’t want you to think that your story is not valid because I didn’t tuck you in, I didn’t read you those stories, I didn’t show up at sporting events.'”
