STEPH AND AYESHA CURRY PLEDGE $50 MILLION TO SUPPORT OAKLAND PUBLIC SCHOOL STUDENTS

Steph and Ayesha Curry are once again showing their truly altruistic souls to the world through their foundation the, Eat. Learn. Play Foundation. The power couple, along with a team of “dedicated community partners” has committed to helping students in the Oakland Public School system through a pledge of $50 million in support.

Steph Curry posted on social media about their endeavors saying, “What an incredible day in Oakland celebrating with the students and community of @lockwood_steam_academy as we revealed their new schoolyard—two new mini soccer pitches, multi-sport courts, and kid-designed play structures, plus a nature exploration area, incredible murals, and a Little Town Library. Not sure who had more fun, the students or us!”

The post continued, “We also had the chance to announce @eatlearnplay’s ambitious new effort to transform the school experience for a generation of Oakland students. We are committed to raising and investing $50 million+ by the end of the 2025-2026 school year to have the most significant possible impact on kids in our community across all three pillars of our work.”

Curry concluded thanking the team of “dedicated community partners and volunteers who are taking up the task along side the duo.

“Thank you to our dedicated community of partners and volunteers who supported the event including @Kaboom, @ousdnews, the Bhusri family, @ACCFB, @ckoakland, @oaklitcoalition, @oaklandgenesis, @oaklandroots, @coachbrandonpayne, @djdsharp, @sportcourtnorcal, @currybrand and @underarmour.”

“We’ve had some success over the last four years, worked with some amazing organizations, some amazing partners, reached a lot of kids,” Curry said in a recent interview with Essence Magazine. And now we’re trying to take it to the next level in terms of really setting up roots and planting a flag with the Oakland Unified School District [and] the 35,000 kids that they serve every year where kids, pun intended, eat learn and play every single day.”

If you remember, this isn’t the first time that the Curry’s dug deep to help the community. Last year, through their foundation and a partnership with Rakuten, the pair made sure that the children at Garfield Elementary School started the school year with a new library.

The philanthropic nature of the Curry’s is truly exciting. As Booker T. Washington once said, “Those who are the happiest are those who do the most for others.” And the Curry’s truly seem like a happy family! We cannot wait to see what wonderful things they do for others next.
