Tristan Thompson is getting slammed on social media for not acknowledging his son, Theo, with whom he shares with Maralee Nichols.
Recently, the 32-year-old Los Angeles Laker posted the sweetest birthday message to his son Tatum, whom he shares with Good American co-founder, Khloe Kardashian.
“Tatum!! Happy birthday my son! You are a reminder of what life represents to me. You have taught me every loss comes a lesson and you are my gift. You are my reminder of all of God’s messages. You are the reason that I began my story,” he wrote.
He continued, “The mistakes along the way are lessons not failures. There is no expiration date to reinventing yourself. Tatum your sweet soul reminds me of God’s grace. You are a future king my son and I am so blessed to be your DaDa!”
While many found the message sweet and touching, others questioned why he didn’t show the same love and appreciation to Theo, who is just seven months older than Tatum
One social media user wrote, “What’s happened to your other kid then.”
Another posted, “Lol. Is your other kid you had at the same time gonna receive this public display of appreciation guy?”
“How about your other future king? Didn’t make the cut?” one critic questioned.
One user wrote, “So because the other mom is not famous your child does not exist? Trashton.”
A commenter asked, “What about your son Theo?”
An additional post gave Thompson a suggestion on “real dads” treat their children. “You should love and praise ALL your children equally. That’s what real dads do.”
Tristan Thompson revealed that he was the father of Maralee Nichols’ baby in December of 2022. Thompson was in a relationship with Kardashian at the time of the revelation.
“I take full responsibility for my actions,” Tristan said of fathering a child outside of his relationship with Kardashian. “You don’t deserve this,” he told his then partner. “You don’t deserve the heartache and humiliation I have caused you. You don’t deserve the way I have treated you over the years. My actions certainly have not lined up with the way I view you.”
He continued with his message to Kardashian, “I have the utmost respect and love for you. Regardless of what you may think. Again, I am so incredibly sorry.”
