Tiffany Haddish is opening up about her personal and emotional experience with pregnancy loss.
In a new interview with The Washington Post, Haddish revealed that she recently experienced her eighth miscarriage.
“Well, I’m going to be honest with you. This would be my eighth one,” she said referring to her miscarriage.
Haddish went on to explain that her uterus is shaped like a heart and sadly, it hasn’t been able to sustain any pregnancies. “I’ve got a uterus shaped like a heart. It just won’t keep anything in.”
The 43-year-old comedian and actress admitted that she had mostly kept her miscarriages private, not wanting to invite constant concern from others. She expressed,”I don’t want people saying: ‘Are you okay? Are you all right?'” she told the outlet. “Like a wounded animal, I just rather go in a cave by myself. Lick my wounds.”
According to the Post, Haddish took parenting classes last year so she could adopt. However, the Girls Trip actress is still unsure if she wants to become a mother. Yet, she does know that she doesn’t necessarily want to find a man who already has a family of his own.
In a 2018 interview with People Magazine, Haddish commented further about her ideal partner to the popular entertainment outlet saying that she had “[done] that before. I don’t want to do that again. It’s all situational, it depends on the situation. But that’s not really something I’m looking for. I’m not really open to that.”
She continued, “Now if somebody comes along and he’s amazing, the kids are amazing, then maybe. But from my experience, it’s usually the kids are really amazing and then I end up liking the kid more than I like them. I’m like, ‘I’m here for the kid! I want the kid to be a great human because they still have a chance and you’re still an a——.’ And I just end up protecting the kid.”
Per the Post, Haddish has learned to weave her darkest experiences into gold right before our eyes.
This summer Haddish has a few projects that will launch. She will continue with her stand-up comedy, her first Disney film, Haunted Mansion, will debut on July 28th, and she will reprise her role as Detective Danner on the Apple TV+ hit series, The Afterparty.
However, the talented thespian isn’t stopping there. Haddish is currently working on a Broadway play with Whoopi Goldberg based on her best-selling memoir, “The Last Black Unicorn.” And, she will take to the mic, making her music debut, on Death Row Records with friend, Snoop Dogg.
