Uzo Aduba, known for her role in Orange Is the New Black, revealed on Sunday at the 2023 Tony Awards that she is pregnant!
While gracing the Tony’s red carpet, Aduba proudly displayed her growing baby bump, dressed in an orange suit jacket designed by Christian Siriano.
Following the event, Aduba took to Instagram to express her joy and gratitude, stating, “What a blessing. My husband Robert and I are so happy to enter this next chapter together as parents.”
She continued, “I am beyond excited. I get to be someone’s Mommy! I know as the three of us continue to grow, our only, ONLY goal will be to love you, little one. My goodness. Look what God has done.”
Aduba is expecting her first child with her filmmaker husband, Robert Sweeting. The couple tied the knot in a private ceremony held in New York in 2020. The actress chose to share details about her marriage for the first time through an Instagram post that month, citing a line from the film When Harry Met Sally.
“Some of us spend our entire lives awaiting that special someone. My heart, my love— I am elated that my journey truly began with you last year. You are the greatest blessing that has ever come into my life,” she wrote.
Adding, “For some of us, it can feel like we spend our whole lives waiting for our special someone. My heart, my love — I’m so happy my life started last year with you. You’re the best thing that ever happened to me.”
This past Mother’s Day, Uzo Aduba took a moment to reflect on the influential mothers in her life.
“Happy beautiful Mother’s Day to all of the mothers out there. I honor all of you. I was so blessed to have a great mother who I am truly grateful to have had, here, for so many remarkable years.”
