Floyd Mayweather shared a tender moment with his grandson, Kentrell Gaulden Jr, before his fight with John Gotti III on Sunday night. The touching scene was captured and shared by Melissia Rene, Kentrell’s grandmother.

Melissia Rene took to Instagram to share a video on her story, showing Mayweather carrying his grandson as he made his way towards the ring.

“Fight night with Paw Paw,” Renee captioned the video.

Yaya Mayweather, Kentrell Jr.’s mother, announced prior to the fight that viewers could “see KJ for the 1st time” by tuning “into my dad’s fight tonight.”

According to Yahoo Sports, the fight itself was marked by chaos right from the beginning. The match faced a brief delay as tensions escalated between the two camps early on. Throughout the fight, Mayweather played with Gotti, who frequently complained and even resorted to an illegal hold, prompting him to be called out by the referee, Kenny Bayless, for holding in the fifth round. Gotti also expressed his grievances about being hit in the back of the head.

In a surprising turn of events, when the sixth round began and the situation remained unchanged, Bayless decided to call off the fight. However, Gotti refused to accept the decision and attempted to continue fighting Mayweather. This led to a swarm of people entering the ring and fights breaking out both inside and outside the arena.

Gotti, known for his accomplishments in MMA and professional boxing, holds a 5-1 record in MMA and is undefeated in his boxing career with a 2-0 record. He is also the grandson of the notorious former New York mob boss, John Gotti.

Mayweather officially retired from professional boxing in 2017 with an undefeated record. Since then, he has been participating in exhibition matches, including a highly publicized bout against YouTuber Logan Paul in 2021.
